Background:

I was a student at Heath End School back in the dim and distant past (1985-89), before ending up at Edge Hill College, where I graduated with a BA in Geography and History.

I have covered a lot of ground in my work over the years, with stints in retail, sales, conservation and even law enforcement! I have been a sustainability professional for almost ten years, working for a major highways maintenance provider.

I was appointed as an Associate Governor in November 2020 and was made a Co-opted Governor in May 2021.

What I bring to the Governing Body:

My job has really brought into focus for me, just how important it is to understand sustainability and climate change, especially for the students coming through FHES. Gaining that understanding will be fundamental to many of the careers that our children will be working towards (and no longer just the environmental ones).

With two children currently at FHES, I also bring a passion for ensuring the best education and pastoral support is available to nurture them, and all their fellow students, through such an important phase in their lives.

Other Interests:

I have been a qualified hockey coach for over 20 years, routinely working with the junior section at Haslemere Hockey Club, as well as playing for the men’s club for almost 30 years. I enjoy my football, being raised an Ipswich fan, but more regularly seen at the Rec watching Aldershot since my teenage years. I also have a deep love of music and books, with a particular interest in anything geography and history related.

I was also on the committee for Hale Carnival for six years when it re-started in the 2000’s, helping organise fundraising nights and planning and executing the big event. Through that, I got a really good sense of how important the community here is.
