Free School meals

Do you know anyone who is entitled to FREE School Meals?

The Government gives money to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best. This funding is called a ‘Pupil Premium’.

For every child registered at Farnham Heath End School the school receives £935 per academic year.  With this money we could improve and update the resources your child is able to use in school.

If you are registered for Free School Meals you could also get help with costs of school trips.  Please register ASAP to make sure your child and others in their class don’t miss out.

How does it work?

  1. First, check if you qualify – it is not just if you are unemployed, so please look at the list below.
  2. Registering is really quick and easy – if you think you qualify, contact the school’s Finance Office or click here to go directly to the online application at Surrey County Council.
  3. If you want your child to have a free, healthy meal at lunchtime that’s great – they will get the free meal (saving you more than £350 a year), extra benefits and the school gets £623 extra.
  4. If you don’t want your child to have the school meals they can continue as normal – as long as you qualify and are registered, the school still gets £623 extra.

Is my child eligible?

From 1 April 2018, free school meals in all Surrey maintained and free schools and academies are available to pupils in receipt of, or whose parents are in receipt of, one or more of the following benefits:

A number of pupils will also be protected against losing their current free school meals. You can find more information on GOV.UK.

Pupils can also register for Free School Meals if they get any of these benefits themselves.  Please talk to us about registering your child today if you’re not sure.  The Free School Meals and Pupil Premium application can be found here.
